Joining the Library

Last Updated: 11/03/2021 ID:64031079

You can join Moreton Bay Region Libraries if you live, work or study in the region. You can also join if you live in a neighbouring region, i.e. Brisbane City Council, Somerset Regional Council, Sunshine Coast Region or Noosa Shire Council, or are visiting the Moreton Bay Region temporarily.

Library membership is free, there are fees and charges for some services. A membership is valid for 2 years, after which you just need to renew online or visit us in the library. By becoming a member, you agree to comply with Library Membership Conditions.

Adults (over 18) can simply bring current identification to any of our libraries to join. Children and young people under 18 can join the library when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who must also be a library member and provide identification.

Online Membership

If you already have a library card, your details will work with all our online services.
You may join the library with an online membership after accepting the membership conditions and privacy statement below and completing the online form. A welcome email will be sent which provides information on the library and your online library membership number. A membership verification letter will also be posted to your home address with instructions on confirming your membership so it remains active. You must confirm your online membership within 30 days of joining or it will be automatically deleted.

With an online membership you can access online resources such as eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and eVideos - as well as other eResources and databases. Online members are limited to borrowing 5 physical items when you visit us in the library.

You can also easily become full library member by then visiting any of our library branches and showing identification.

  2. You must take care of all library items and materials borrowed and ensure that the items are returned by the due date or renew the items or materials as required.
  3. You must notify Council of any damage to, or loss of, any library items or materials and promptly pay to Council any relevant fees and charges associated with any damage or loss, or outstanding late fees should they apply.
  4. You must treat library staff and other customers with respect at all times.
  5. You must obey the lawful direction of library staff at all times.
  6. You must take full responsibility for the supervision of your children on library premises, your children’s selection and use of library items and services, including access to the internet.

Council may change these terms and conditions at any time. If the changes are material, we’ll let you know by email or posting a notice on the Moreton Bay Region Libraries site before the changes go into effect. The notice will designate a reasonable amount of time (‘the Notice Period’) after which these new terms will come into effect for all library members. If you do not agree to the new terms and conditions, please contact Council within the Notice Period to cancel your membership. Should you not contact Council within the Notice Period, your membership will be subject to the new terms and conditions going forward.
